What if I have two identical headings?

The second (and later) one gets an incremental numeric suffix on its anchor, e.g. #introduction and #introduction-2, so every link stays unique.

Will the anchors work the same on any Markdown platform?

Anchors are generated with our own deterministic algorithm. Different Markdown renderers may apply small variations to theirs.
