Frequently asked questions

Is a UUID generated here guaranteed to be unique worldwide?
Absolute uniqueness can't be guaranteed — a UUID v4 has an astronomically low collision probability, but not a mathematically zero one.
What's the difference between v4 and v7?
v4 is fully random. v7 embeds a millisecond Unix timestamp at the start, so UUIDs generated in chronological order also sort correctly as text.
